Adding Templates to Autodesk Revit

Overview

This article is used to gain access to various templates within the Autodesk Revit application

 
  1. Open Revit and click File > Options. If you do not see the blue File button in the top left, click the icon that is shown above circled in red. 
  2. In the window that opens, click File Locations.
  3. Next to the box under “Project Templates”, click the green + button.
  4. If you are logged into a student account, there will be an error message that says the operation has been cancelled. Just click OK and proceed. 
  5. Go to the following path: My Computer > LHSPrograms > Autodesk > RVT 2025 > Templates
  6. The first set of files will be in the English-Imperial folder. You will need to add the following files to that list one by one. 
    1. Construction-Default.rte
    2. Default.rte 
    3. Structural Analysis-Default.rte 
    4. Systems-Default.rte
  7. After completing those, go back to the path from path 5 and go into the English folder. You will add the following files one by one as well
    1. Construction-DefaultMetric.rte
    2. DefaultMetric.rte 
    3. Structural Analysis-DefaultMetric.rte 
    4. Systems-Default_Metric.rte
  8. After adding those templates, you should be able to access them from within Revit
